Job Opportunity: Professional Nurse (Paediatrics Specialized Unit)
Salary
- Grade 1: R451,533 – R530,376 per annum
- Grade 2: R553,545 – R686,211 per annum
- Benefits: Includes a 13th check, optional medical aid, and Government Employees Housing Scheme (GEHS) (conditions apply).

Requirements
Candidates must meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Matric (Grade 12) certificate.
- Basic R425 qualification: Degree or Diploma in nursing allowing registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification (Child Nursing Science, Advanced Midwifery / Critical Care) of at least 1 year.
- Current registration with SANC as a General Nurse and Midwife (2024).
Experience
- Grade 1: Minimum of 4 years relevant nursing experience post-registration.
- Grade 2: Minimum of 14 years relevant nursing experience post-registration, with at least 10 years in the specific specialty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Knowledge of nursing care processes and procedures.
- Understanding of public service regulations and hospital policies.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Cross-cultural awareness and problem-solving skills.
Duties
- Assist in planning and monitoring objectives for the paediatric specialized unit.
- Provide a therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
- Deliver comprehensive, quality nursing care.
- Supervise nursing and housekeeping staff, ensuring continuity of care.
- Facilitate effective communication with patients, families, and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Manage duty rosters and assist with record-keeping and statistical reporting.
- Participate in staff evaluations and orientations.
- Promote quality nursing care as per scope of practice and standards.
- Act as a junior shift leader when needed and manage resources efficiently.
